Celebrating the Holidays

We loved being able to take time off for Christmas and New Years.

For Christmas this year we visited David's family in Las Vegas.

On Christmas Day after present opening with David's sister's family (our hosts), we headed to David's grandparent's home for a family tradition of omelette flipping. It was quite the scene with nearly forty family members gathered together.

A highlight for us was getting together with the cousins. David has two cousins he's always been close with who are both married now and living in different places. We always have a lot of laughs when we are together. One night, after a long conversation, we ended up creating a Meme that would later be featured on the BYU Memes page.

A trip to Las Vegas isn't a trip to Vegas without visiting the Bellagio to see the gardens and the fountain.

Las Vegas also has many great food options-- Zupas, Cafe Rio, Gordan Ramsay's BurGR, Hash House A-Go-Go, Buffalo Wild Wings, and homemade meals from family...needless to say we each put on a few pounds during the trip.

We got back to the Seattle area for New Years and welcomed the new year with a few of our best friends. That night we played "Cliche Action-Movie Bingo"; we brainstormed cliche action movie scenes, printed bingo scorecards, and called out cliches as we watched Expendables 3. Charity won within the first hour of the film.

It was created after a long chain of conversation starting with the BYU bowlgame brawl. :)

Camping Adventure at Penrose Point State Park

This past weekend Mr. D and I went camping at Penrose Point State Park with a family we have been friends with for almost three years! We decided to carpool there together with our camping gear and all seven of us in their van. After we got there, we made hotdogs for dinner, s’mores and cobbler for dessert, and enjoyed spending time together in front of the campfire. The following morning we walked over to the water and had fun discovering crabs in the rocks. Here are some of the photos from the trip: Checking out an alive sand dollar  Looking for crabs on the water  Crazy tree and roots This was the website we used to book the reservation: https://washington.goingtocamp.com/PenrosePointStatePark -Mr. D and Mrs. M

Neil's friends visit

Our friends from Seattle were in town visiting for a work conference in Park City and they stopped by our home and stayed with us for a day. We loved seeing them and getting to have our boys play together. There was a lot to do at our home-- play with legos, practice baseball, enjoy the chickens, and read together. Hope to have them visit again next time they are here for a work trip or to ski.

Camping

This past weekend our family got to go camping with cousins, and we had a great time.  We live in Highland Utah, which is near the American Fork Canyon entrance. We chose to go to the Timpooneke campsites, which is really close to us. We went there a couple times last year. The campsites are really nice. At each campsite is a concrete slab with a fire pit and picnic table, as well as flat ground to place your tent (plus walkable to drinking water, an outhouse, etc.).  We went with David's sister's family and the kids loved gathering around the fire, playing games, and exploring together. We even got to take our paddle boards out to Tibble Fork Reservoir. Here are photos from our trip: Campground link:  https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231938
