Sisters weekend in San Francesco

Golden Gate Bridge
This past weekend I went to San Francesco with my two of my sisters in law. This trip was my first time with Mr. D’s sisters without Mr. D around, so I was looking forward to finally be able to have some quality time with them. We all flew into San Francesco Thursday evening— one of us from Las Vegas (Jess), another from San Diego (Danielle), and then me from Seattle.

We had a total sisters weekend; we got pedicures, went shopping, walked around the city, saw tourist attractions, and ate delicious food. Before the trip Danielle Yelped for all the best places for us to eat, so we ate at a variety of places, including a Tapas place, a family-owned breakfast place, got fish and chips, ate Chinese, sushi, a fancy restaurant, and picked up desserts from a bakery.

The highlight of the trip for me was biking on the golden gate bridge! Before this trip I had never seen the bridge in person, so I was excited to finally have a look at such an iconic landmark. The bridge was crowded; there were literally thousands of girl scouts (do they do girl scout conventions?) walking the length of the bridge.  When my sisters and I were biking up a hill to get to the bridge, one girl scout on her way back put out her hand for a high five. As I reached out to give her a high five, several other additional girls put out their hands, and high-fiving them all reminded me of a how fun competing in races can be. We biked on one side of the bridge, the girl-scout pedestrians on the other side, and traffic through the middle. Biking across the bridge did not take very long, but the two-mile walk each way for the girl scouts probably took many of them the full morning.

Here are some more pictures from our trip:

Come visit us in Utah and stay in our Primary Suite

Back in July, David and I looked at homes as we considered moving here to Utah. One feature that was a little bit unique about our home we ended up picking, is that it has two primary bedrooms (one on the main floor and second one upstairs). We thought it would make sense for each of our three boys to have their own rooms upstairs (with us on the main floor), but that meant one of them would get the primary suite, which seemed a little much to us. We decided that our oldest son could have the big bedroom, but told him that he would need to share it when we have guests over. So far the arrangement has been working well.  We were hopeful my parents (who still live in the Seattle area we left) would visit us often as well as my sister and her husband who currently live in Texas. We added a king bed and have been using it to lure our family members into visiting us. We are pleased to share that we've gotten to host them several times. At Christmas we got a little creative with our extr...

We are Utahn's now!

We've moved to Highland Utah and are enjoying this new chapter of our lives here! We have discovered that Utah has lovely late summer/early falls. The weather is nice out each day and we are finding ourselves spending a lot of time outside. The kids ride bikes and scooters in the front yard in our cul-de-sac with the neighborhood kids. Our neighbors are warm and friendly. Now that we live on a flat street, Neil has learned how to ride a bike. We live near a paved bike trail called the Murdock trail that is amazing. We enjoy going to Neil's soccer games as a family. The doorbell rings every day with neighbor kids coming over to play. James was invited to his second-ever friend birthday party. Feel free to comment with what you like about where you live and your favorite things to do outdoors.

Sean and Eunice's wedding celebration!

This past weekend we got to celebrate with our friends Sean and Eunice at their wedding! With help from our nanny, my brother and his wife, and a babysitter, we were able to trust that our kids would be okay back home for the weekend. Based on the photo below, can you guess what airport we flew to? We flew from Provo to Portland! I guess this carpet has been teased as very ugly and it was a trend a while back to take photos of your feet with the carpet when you pass through the Portland airport on social media. Most of the carpet has been replaced at the airport and the Portland airport has also been significantly beautified since.  We got to see many people we love. On Saturday before the meet and greet at the wedding, we were able to hike a section of the Pacific Coast Trail, a trail that goes thru the United States from Mexico to Canada ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Crest_Trail ) with our friend Dan.  The connection of us to Sean and Eunice and a subgroup of the g...
