Matthew and Camille's Wedding

This past weekend was full of fun activities. Saturday morning we took family photos (link), Saturday evening we went to the BYU v. Huskies football game for Mr. D's birthday (which with a 35-7 end score, we were just grateful to have had points on the board), and Sunday we celebrated two of our very close friends getting married!

The wedding celebration was simply fantastic and I loved every moment of it. I loved catching up with old-time friends and colleagues, trying to sing along to a couple Christian hymns, and hearing Matthew and Camille make their wedding vows. I'm excited for them and looking forward to watching them grow together as a married couple.

We met Camille at a party maybe a week after her and Matthew officially started dating. I loved Camille from the moment I met her-- her warmth, personality, and overall feeling of put togetherness gave me a great feeling about her. I had told her how much I liked Matthew and I'm glad they chose to keep dating. Over the past two years we've been on two weekend trips with them (once to the Olympic Peninsula and once to Vancouver BC) and we've enjoyed having them over at our place to shower our little guy with love. They are beautiful people inside and out.

After the wedding ceremony, we all had time to chat with each other while the wedding party took photos together. Later in the night, a couple family members and best friends of the bride and groom gave speeches, they cut the cake, and the dancing began. Matthew's mom gave an incredibly heartfelt speech about raising Matthew and the prayers she had said that had made most of us tear up, especially my husband. Later in the evening (while I was up to eat more cookies), I got to meet and talk to Matthew's mom. She was super sweet and I was surprised to find out she knew me by name and stories about me. We talked a bit about Matthew and Camille, love, marriage, and I told her that I hope that someday I can give a speech like the one she gave for Matthew for Neil.

Love,
Mr. D and Mrs. M

My sister Torrey's Wedding to Hyrum

A couple weeks ago David and I took a trip just the two of us to Utah for my sister's wedding! Spending time in Utah was very special for me.  We left our three boys back home and our cousin Trevin watched them for us. (While we were gone, Trevin sent "proof of life" photos as well as several photos of their adventures so that we wouldn't worry about our kids.) We stayed with David's sister who recently moved to north Provo area. The evening before my sister's wedding we had a family dinner where we all got to make toasts for Torrey and Hyrum and celebrate them. Torrey told me that my husband's toast for her was one of her favorites.  I got to be there with Torrey and Hyrum in the Payson Utah Temple. I got to see family and catch up with old friends who have since moved to the Utah area. I loved being a part of Torrey's wedding and celebrating her and Hyrum meeting each other and being able to enter this next stage of life together and a married couple...

We are Utahn's now!

We've moved to Highland Utah and are enjoying this new chapter of our lives here! We have discovered that Utah has lovely late summer/early falls. The weather is nice out each day and we are finding ourselves spending a lot of time outside. The kids ride bikes and scooters in the front yard in our cul-de-sac with the neighborhood kids. Our neighbors are warm and friendly. Now that we live on a flat street, Neil has learned how to ride a bike. We live near a paved bike trail called the Murdock trail that is amazing. We enjoy going to Neil's soccer games as a family. The doorbell rings every day with neighbor kids coming over to play. James was invited to his second-ever friend birthday party. Feel free to comment with what you like about where you live and your favorite things to do outdoors.

Birthday month for the boys!

Something fun in our home is that our boys all have May birthdays. We loved celebrating their birthdays with them and their friends this year. We tried to make each child's birthday special.  We also had a neighborhood community party!
