Trip to Portland for Ash and Anj's Wedding

This past weekend our little family took Friday off work and headed down to Portland Oregon to celebrate one of my college roommates marrying her best friend. I appreciated hearing her authenticity in her wedding vows-- watching her declare her love to her now-husband and stating what a supportive man he has been for her. I hope for them all the happiness marriage brings and enjoyed being able to celebrate their commitment to each other.

Their wedding venue was west of Portland in the Hillsboro area. I didn't know that so close to Portland is expansive farmland with beautiful views. It was very classy.

Neil had lots of favorite parts of the wedding, but I believe his top-favorite part was finding a tractor nearby and mom letting him climb up in it and pretend to drive it.

After the wedding we decided to stay in Oregon for the night (before driving back the following day). We took Neil to the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). The museum had several kid-friendly activities including blocks, play dough, painting, animal costumes, and a giant sand area.

After Neil's nap in the car, we stopped by some of Mr. D's cousins south of Tacoma for a while then we finished the drive home. It has been really lucky to have family come to live in the area and we've enjoyed being able to visit with and see family periodically.

Come visit us in Utah and stay in our Primary Suite

Back in July, David and I looked at homes as we considered moving here to Utah. One feature that was a little bit unique about our home we ended up picking, is that it has two primary bedrooms (one on the main floor and second one upstairs). We thought it would make sense for each of our three boys to have their own rooms upstairs (with us on the main floor), but that meant one of them would get the primary suite, which seemed a little much to us. We decided that our oldest son could have the big bedroom, but told him that he would need to share it when we have guests over. So far the arrangement has been working well.  We were hopeful my parents (who still live in the Seattle area we left) would visit us often as well as my sister and her husband who currently live in Texas. We added a king bed and have been using it to lure our family members into visiting us. We are pleased to share that we've gotten to host them several times. At Christmas we got a little creative with our extr...

Sean and Eunice's wedding celebration!

This past weekend we got to celebrate with our friends Sean and Eunice at their wedding! With help from our nanny, my brother and his wife, and a babysitter, we were able to trust that our kids would be okay back home for the weekend. Based on the photo below, can you guess what airport we flew to? We flew from Provo to Portland! I guess this carpet has been teased as very ugly and it was a trend a while back to take photos of your feet with the carpet when you pass through the Portland airport on social media. Most of the carpet has been replaced at the airport and the Portland airport has also been significantly beautified since.  We got to see many people we love. On Saturday before the meet and greet at the wedding, we were able to hike a section of the Pacific Coast Trail, a trail that goes thru the United States from Mexico to Canada ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Crest_Trail ) with our friend Dan.  The connection of us to Sean and Eunice and a subgroup of the g...
